Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a two-day international conference on "The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics" in New Delhi. India's Deep-Sea Mining Efforts Under Deep Ocean Mission
India is actively pursuing deep-sea mining under its Deep Ocean Mission, holding three International Seabed Authority (ISA) exploration contracts covering approximately 95,000 square kilometers. Surveys have identified an estimated 366 million tonnes of polymetallic nodules rich in critical minerals like nickel, copper, cobalt, and manganese. The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) has successfully tested a crawler-based seabed mining machine at depths of around 5,270 meters.

EPFO Wage Ceiling Increased to ₹25,000
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified an increase in the wage ceiling of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month. This revision, after a gap of 12 years, aims to widen India's social security net and formalize the workforce. The change will bring an estimated 51 lakh additional workers under mandatory coverage.
