PM Vishwakarma Scheme Completes Three Years
The Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Scheme, launched on September 17, 2023, has completed three years, reaching a milestone of 30 lakh registered beneficiaries across the country. The scheme provides end-to-end institutional support to traditional artisans and craftspeople through skill training, modern toolkits, concessional credit, digital support, and market access. Over 24.50 lakh artisans have completed basic skill training, and 18.15 lakh have received modern toolkits.
पीएम विश्वकर्मा योजना ने पूरे किए तीन साल

India Retains 131st Rank in Global Gender Gap Index 2026
India has retained its 131st rank out of 145 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index 2026, released by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The country achieved an overall gender parity score of 64.5%, showing a 4.3% point improvement since 2006, but still lags behind the global average of 69.2%. Gaps persist in economic participation, political representation, leadership, and technology.

An India-born female cheetah, KGP12, has given birth to four cubs at Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav announced this development, which comes a day after Project Cheetah completed four years. Cheetahs were declared extinct in India in 1952, and Project Cheetah was launched on September 17, 2022, to reintroduce them.

US House Passes Sanctions Bill Targeting Russia and Iran
The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, which grants the President authority to impose tariffs of up to 100% on countries purchasing Russian oil. The bill also includes broader sanctions against Russian leadership, energy networks, banks, and vessels involved in sanctions evasion, along with measures against Iran. India is identified as one of the top purchasers of Russian oil.

Fiji Declares National HIV Emergency
Fiji has declared a national HIV emergency following a sharp rise in HIV infections, with new cases increasing 12-fold between 2010 and 2025. The government is expanding testing, treatment, and prevention measures to address the crisis. Around 9,100 people were estimated to be living with HIV in Fiji in 2025, in a country with a population of less than one million.
