India-Japan Defence Ties Transition to Operational Convergence
India and Japan are enhancing their defense cooperation, moving towards operational convergence through joint naval shipbuilding, technology transfer, expanded R&D, and maritime domain awareness. This includes institutionalizing co-development pipelines between India's DRDO and Japan's ATLA. The two nations are also elevating tri-service joint exercises, with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force deploying fighter aircraft to India for the first time in September 2026 for Exercise Veer Guardian 2026.
भारत-जापान रक्षा संबंध परिचालन अभिसरण की ओर अग्रसर

India Hosts BRICS Chief Justices' Forum and Other BRICS Events
India is hosting the BRICS Chief Justices' Forum in New Delhi, where Chief Justice of India Surya Kant held bilateral meetings with judicial leaders from 10 countries to discuss judicial cooperation, MoUs, mediation, and arbitration. Additionally, India's 2026 BRICS Presidency organized the 8th Meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Ocean and Polar Science and Technology in Goa. The 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit is scheduled for September 12 and 13, 2026, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.

Defence Acquisition Council Approves ₹1.10 Lakh Crore Procurement
The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Union Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹1.10 lakh crore. These approvals aim to strengthen the combat capabilities of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. This includes the manufacturing of 7.62×39 mm ammunition at Adani Defence's facility in Kanpur and AK-203 rifles by IRRPL at its Korwa facility in Amethi.

केंद्रीय मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह की अध्यक्षता में रक्षा अधिग्रहण परिषद (DAC) ने लगभग ₹1.10 लाख करोड़ के पूंजी अधिग्रहण प्रस्तावों को मंजूरी दी है। इन अनुमोदनों का उद्देश्य भारतीय सेना, भारतीय नौसेना और भारतीय वायु सेना की युद्ध क्षमताओं को मजबूत करना है। इसमें कानपुर में अदानी डिफेंस की सुविधा में 7.62×39 मिमी गोला-बारूद का निर्माण और अमेठी में IRRPL की कोरवा सुविधा में AK-203 राइफलों का निर्माण शामिल है।
NITI Aayog Launches PACT and ZET Marketplace
NITI Aayog has launched the Platform for Aggregating Clean Transport (PACT) and a complementary Zero-Emission Truck (ZET) marketplace at the 5th Electric-Freight Accelerator for Sustainable Transport (e-FAST) India Summit in New Delhi. PACT aims to aggregate freight demand from various stakeholders to facilitate the deployment of electric trucks across identified freight corridors. This initiative seeks to electrify entire priority freight corridors comprehensively.

India Dispatches 8th Relief Flight to Flood-Hit Nepal
India has expanded its aid operations for the devastating Bhote Koshi floods in Nepal, sending an eighth Indian Air Force (IAF) cargo flight with 35 tonnes of technical equipment and emergency supplies to Kathmandu. The shipment includes specialized operational tools for National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, technical gear for search operations, forensic supplies, and field materials for Indian Army units. New Delhi continues to coordinate closely with Kathmandu, providing medical, technical, and logistics support to assist affected communities.

Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Dedicated to the Nation
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) to the nation. The DFC project, conceived in 2005, includes both the Eastern DFC (EDFC) and WDFC, which were approved by the Cabinet in 2008. The WDFC is a crucial part of the Indian Railways' plan to link the four metropolitan cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Howrah, known as the Golden Quadrilateral.
