Supreme Court Addresses Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque Dispute
The Supreme Court on July 14, 2026, declined to reinstate the status quo ante in the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex case. This decision followed the Madhya Pradesh High Court's declaration that the complex was a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati and its prohibition of Friday namaz at the site. Ladakh Administration to Extend LAHDC Act Benefits to All New Districts
The Ladakh administration has created 17 new tehsils, increasing the Union Territory's total to 32, and plans to extend the benefits of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Act to all seven newly designated districts. The LAHDC Act, 1997, aims to empower local populations through decentralized governance in the high-altitude region. Each council functions as a body corporate with 26 directly elected members.

Supreme Court Proposes AI Regulations for Courts and Launches Special Benches

Additionally, the Supreme Court launched four new special benches, two for civil and two for criminal cases, to address and reduce the judicial backlog of oldest pending cases.
