India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 Approved with US$ 13.21 Billion Allocation
The Expenditure Finance Committee has cleared a proposal for India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0 with an allocation of ₹1.25 lakh crore (US$ 13.21 billion). This represents a significant increase over the US$ 8.03 billion allocated under ISM 1.0. The mission aims to promote a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, covering equipment, materials, indigenous intellectual property, chip design, manufacturing, and resilient supply chains.

India marks the 9th anniversary of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on July 1, 2026, a landmark indirect tax reform implemented on July 1, 2017. The GST regime has significantly expanded India's formal economic base, with registered taxpayers increasing from approximately 6.65 million in 2017 to nearly 16.5 million by May 2026. Gross GST revenue also saw substantial growth, from around ₹7.4 lakh crore in 2017–18 to ₹22.27 lakh crore in 2025–26.
