India and Japan Strengthen Strategic Partnership
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held discussions to deepen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. India's Economy Continues Strong Growth Trajectory
India's economy grew by 7.7% in FY 2025-26, maintaining its position as the world's fastest-growing major economy. The growth was driven by strong performance in manufacturing, services, consumption, and investment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the transformation of India's economic DNA through continuous reforms in taxation, governance, and ease of doing business.

New Wage Floor Under VB-GRAM G Replaces MGNREGA
The Central government has implemented a new floor wage of ₹300 per day under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-GRAM G] Act, 2025, effective July 1, 2026. This new act replaces the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005. Concerns have been raised regarding the projected six-fold increase in states' expenditure under the new funding pattern.

Delhi Announces Permanent Anti-Pollution Measures for Winter
The Delhi government has announced permanent measures to combat air pollution during the winter months, from November 1 to February 28, irrespective of the Air Quality Index (AQI). These measures include doubling parking charges, staggered office timings for government employees, and a ban on most outdoor civil construction activities. The government also introduced a cash incentive for scrapping old vehicles for electric vehicles.

Supreme Court Cautions Against AI-Generated Legal Precedents
The Supreme Court of India has expressed strong disapproval of the use of non-existent or AI-generated hallucinated judicial precedents, calling it "catastrophic" to the judicial process. The court set aside an order of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) after it was found to have relied on fictitious AI-generated case laws.

Russia-Ukraine War Continues with Escalated Strikes
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, with Russia launching massive overnight missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, resulting in at least 17 deaths and over 90 injuries. This escalation followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's warning of an impending large-scale Russian attack. Meanwhile, reports indicate over two million Russian and Ukrainian troops have been killed or wounded since February 2022.
