National Social Assistance Programme Renamed and Extended
The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) for five years (2026-27 to 2030-31) with an outlay of ₹53,428 crore. The NSAP has been renamed as Pradhan Mantri Samajik Sahayata Yojana (PMSSY), and its sub-schemes, previously named after Indira Gandhi, have also been renamed to reflect the 'Pradhan Mantri' prefix.
