India Launches First Guide to Open Natural Ecosystems
India unveiled its first-ever 'Guide to Grasslands and Other Open Natural Ecosystems (ONEs)' on August 17, 2026, during the 17th Session of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Mongolia. Qatar-India Postal Remittance Service via UPI
Qatar Post launched a postal remittance service on August 15, 2026, enabling money transfers from Qatar to UPI-enabled Indian bank accounts through PosTransfer. This service, developed jointly by Qatar Post, India Post, UPU Interconnection Platform, and NPCI International Payments Limited, allows transfers ranging from QAR 10 to QAR 4,000. Recipients in India need to activate the foreign inward remittance facility through their UPI application to receive funds.

India and Armenia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence innovation cooperation in Yerevan on August 17, 2026. National Sports Awards 2025 Announced
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the National Sports Awards 2025 on August 18, 2026. Supreme Court Addresses Pending Cases Against MPs and MLAs
A report submitted to the Supreme Court on August 18, 2026, revealed that 4,192 cases against sitting and former Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are pending trial across India.
