Privacy Policy

Patauna (“Patauna”, “we”, “us”) operates patauna.com and the Patauna application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Information you give us: your name, email and/or phone number when you join the waitlist or create an account; the answers, essays and topics you submit for evaluation or generation; and messages you send to the AI mentor.
• Voice recordings: if you use the spoken mock-interview, your microphone audio is recorded during the session and processed to generate questions and feedback. Recordings are used only for that session’s evaluation.
• Profile photo: if you choose to set a profile picture, the image you select is stored to display in your account.
• Information collected automatically: your practice activity (scores, attempts, time spent), device and log data, and cookies/local storage used for sign-in and preferences.
• Payment information: the app is currently free to use. If we offer paid credits in future, payment will be processed by a third-party payment provider and we will not store your card details.

2. How we use your information

• To provide and personalise the service — daily plans, evaluations, analytics and mentor responses.
• To process payments and deliver the credits you purchase.
• To communicate with you — account and service messages, and the current-affairs digest only if you opt in.
• To maintain, secure and improve the service.

3. AI processing

Answers, essays, topics and mentor messages you submit are processed by third-party AI providers (currently Google Gemini) to generate evaluations, study material and responses. We send only what the feature needs and do not use your submissions to publicly identify you.

4. Service providers we use

We rely on trusted providers who process data on our behalf: Google Firebase (sign-in), Amazon Web Services (hosting, email, storage), Razorpay (payments), and Google Gemini (AI features). Each operates under its own terms and privacy practices.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the providers above, or where required by law.

6. Cookies & local storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as your language.

7. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.

8. Your rights

You may request access to or correction of your personal data by emailing contact@patauna.com.

9. Deleting your account & data

You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: open Profile → Delete account. This immediately and irreversibly removes your account and the data associated with it — your profile, practice activity, evaluations, generated material, mentor conversations and interview sessions — from our systems. You can also request deletion by emailing contact@patauna.com and we will action it within 30 days.

10. Children

Patauna is intended for candidates preparing for the UPSC examination and is not directed at children under 16.

11. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the revised version here with a new date.
