India Hosts BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting
India is hosting the BRICS National Security Advisers' Meeting on June 22-23, 2026, chaired by NSA Ajit Doval. India-China Relations: Progress Towards Normalization
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the sidelines of the BRICS NSA meeting, noting "progress towards gradual normalisation" of bilateral relations. Both sides reviewed recent developments and emphasized that stable and constructive relations build trust and understanding. This follows an agreement in October 2024 to resolve the eastern Ladakh military standoff.

Lucknow Fire Tragedy: SIT Probe Ordered
A devastating fire in a three-storey commercial building in Lucknow's Aliganj area resulted in the deaths of at least 15 people and left nine injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a two-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident and submit its report within seven days. The Prime Minister also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the victims.

लखनऊ के अलीगंज इलाके में एक तीन मंजिला व्यावसायिक इमारत में भीषण आग लगने से कम से कम 15 लोगों की मौत हो गई और नौ घायल हो गए। उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने घटना की जांच के लिए दो सदस्यीय विशेष जांच दल (एसआईटी) का गठन करने और सात दिनों के भीतर अपनी रिपोर्ट प्रस्तुत करने का आदेश दिया है। प्रधानमंत्री ने पीड़ितों के लिए 2 लाख रुपये की अनुग्रह राशि की भी घोषणा की।
India Assumes Vice-Presidency of FATF
India has been elected as the Vice-President of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for the first time, for the term July 2026 to June 2027. Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has been appointed to this role. FATF is responsible for combating money laundering and counter-terrorist financing globally.

Supreme Court Declares 'Right to Walk' a Fundamental Right
The Supreme Court of India has declared the 'Right to Walk' on safe footpaths as a fundamental right. The bench held that this right is integral to the right to movement guaranteed under Article 19(1)(d), read with Article 19(1)(a), Article 19(1)(b), Article 19(1)(c) and Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Violation of this right will entitle citizens to constitutional and legal remedies.

भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने सुरक्षित फुटपाथों पर 'चलने के अधिकार' को मौलिक अधिकार घोषित किया है। पीठ ने माना कि यह अधिकार भारत के संविधान के अनुच्छेद 19(1)(d) के तहत गारंटीकृत आंदोलन के अधिकार का अभिन्न अंग है, जिसे अनुच्छेद 19(1)(a), अनुच्छेद 19(1)(b), अनुच्छेद 19(1)(c) और अनुच्छेद 21 के साथ पढ़ा जाए। इस अधिकार के उल्लंघन से नागरिकों को संवैधानिक और कानूनी उपचारों का अधिकार मिलेगा।
